The Crayfish Trail could be one of South Africa’s best kept secrets. It is a slackpacking trail along our beautiful West Coast. Vensterklip serves as a permanent overnight venue on this one-of-a-kind hiking trail. Slackpacking, for those who are unfamiliar, is somewhere between hiking and walking but is far more leisurely as you do so without the schlepp of a hiking bag. All you need is your day pack and camera! A perfect active, outdoor family holiday.
Take The Tour
Guests have the option of either the full Five Day Trail (5 nights), the Two Day Trail (2 nights) or to Tailor-make their trail (between 1-5 nights). All options include accommodation, all meals, a local guide, transport of luggage and daily activities. The trail is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness and for children over 12 years of age. The terrain is mostly flat and walked on rough paths, jeep tracks, board walks, beaches and single track.
This trail is aimed at empowering local individuals from coastal communities including Elandsbaai, Lambertsbaai and Doringbaai. It is no secret that the West Coast is a beautiful landscape, with tourism holding great opportunity for all. The trail is led by local guides who give guests on the trail a unique insight into the culture and history of the area. Guests are treated to the local cuisine prepared by local people, which really is ‘lekker’.
